#staysafeTAFEA (part of LavaLine)
During our production of LavaLine on Tanna island we were asked to make video clips for the Vanuatu Ministry of Health. Under the motto #staysafeTAFEA they are intended to explain the function and purpose of hygiene measures and to foster a general understanding of the pandemic among the people. Besides, our main production about the slackline walk above an active vulcano was also successful. You can find everything about it here on the project site.
Tanna belongs to the Republic of Vanuatu. About 1800km east of Australia, between Fiji and New Caledonia in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, Tanna Island could not be further away from Europe. Spread across 80 small islands, 300 000 people call this place home. Most of them live in a simple, beautiful and traditional manner, far away from Western society. The rhythm of life here is peaceful, friendly and calm. According to a study by the NEF (New Economy Foundation) the people in Vanuatu are in the highest percentile worldwide, in regards to happiness, life expectancy and connection to nature. A raw oasis in our continuously growing world, which is still free of the Corona Virus and should remain so forever.
As a matter of fact, Vanuatu only has two ventilators available for all of its 300,000 citizens. The health system is not ready for a pandemic of this proportion and the government and people rightly fear an outbreak. For this reason, the national disaster management office (NDMO) founded a Corona task force with the mission of explaining the situation, teaching correct hygiene and giving answers to the islanders’ most important questions. Factually accurate and objective communication is very important, especially for all the small remote islands.
We developed the campaign #staysafeTAFEA in cooperation with the Ministries of Health, Education, Customs and Borders and the Ministry of Agriculture. As a result, six clips were aired on the main television channel VBTC and shared on social media, to reach as many people as possible.
Have a look at the NDMO clips below. They turned out beautifully. Shot on Cook s4mini with the BlackMagic Ursa in BlackMagic RAW.
