WATERLINE world record at lake EIBSEE

Crossing a 327 meter long slackline at Eibsee, Alex broke his waterline record a second time within a very short time. Two weeks earlier he had walked a distance of 271 meters across the port basin of Helgoland. Nevertheless he was still training:

Alex spent the week with his friends at the Eibsee and trained for the waterline world record. Different lengths of slacklines were rigged and the spectacular Zugspitze (highest peak of germany) in the background created a perfect scenery. The practice line was a polyester slackline with even more weight than the world record line and therefore more difficult to walk due to the stronger momentum. The practice lines were rigged between the eight islands of the lake and the world record line connect the „Scheibeninsel“ (disc-island) and „Maximiliansinsel“. On the latter, so called "dream weddings" take place and Alex fulfilled his own one inch slackline dream by walking that line.

When he was asked why he chose the Eibsee for his new worldrecord, his answer was simple and straightforward: „The blue-green water, the nature and the scenery of the Zugspitze give that place a certain magic. I really like that place, I can focus extremely well and the surrounding just gives me a big push.“

Why does he confront himself with big challenges like this one? „I feel pretty good at the moment and I knew if I could focus enough that I was going to be able to walk the 327 meter wide distance. Of course my condition on the given day needs to be good, just as the weather. Strong wind, for instance, would have made the water surface really gusty and the slackline even more shaky than it already is. During my training sessions we had all kind of weather conditions, from stormy rain to perfect sunshine. But that only made made me stronger and probably contributed to achieving my goal of walking the 327m worldrecord-slackline.“

Here you can watch two nice reports from german TV-stations BR and SkySport.
